Bablyon 5 pulled this off well, featuring the evil Shadows, with their jet black ships and sneaky plots. When it comes to space operas like Star Trek or Babylon 5 you can have all the square-jawed heroes, but what you really need to give a show that extra edge is some really nasty baddies.
